‘This is what Democracy looks like’ - Film and debate -

On the 11th of December at 19:00 hrs. in Bajesdorp in Amsterdam, Burghard Ilge from Both ENDS will give an introduction to the documentary 'This is what Democracy looks like' by Jill Friedberg and Rick Rowley (2007). Afterwards there is room for debate. This is one of the many films shown during the free alternative documentary film festival Bajesdoc, held on diverse locations in Amsterdam from 8-11 December.

'This is what Democracy looks like', shot by 100 amateur camera operators, tells the story of the enormous street protests in Seattle Washington in November 1999, against the World Trade Organization summit being held there. Vowing to oppose, protestors from all around came out in force to make their views known.

From 15-17 December the next WTO Ministerial Conference will be held in Geneva, Switzerland. After the screening there will be possibility for discussion and a brief update on the issues which will be discussed in Geneva and the related concerns of Civil Society Organizations.
