CERES Summer School: Workshop on Biofuel Production

Friday the 3rd of July Both ENDS facilitates a CERES Summer School workshop on the Impact and Drivers of Biofuel Production. Session 1 from 10.00-12.00h and session 2 13.30 - 15.30h are held at the Spinoza Building of the Radboud University in Nijmegen.

The production and trade of biofuels is very controversial and complex. Whereas the impact of biofuel production is contested, unknown or at best providing a mixed message. Governments expect that biofuel programs contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, generation of employment, poverty alleviation and other most applaudable goals. Multiple NGO's on the other hand are less positive about the programs.

Policy makers and NGO's alike use arguments to support their case, however these arguments are not always based on empirical findings. In short, there is a lot of talk in town, yet there are very little insights on what drives the biofuel dynamics and what actually happens on the ground.

It is against this background that researchers, government officials and representatives of non-government organizations are invited share their views during this workshop. For more information please check the official invitation, or contact Paul Wolvekamp.
