Women Barefoot Ecologists won a Gender Just Climate Solutions award at COP27

At this year's UN Climate Conference COP27, Bhavya George, Climate Change coordinator of our partner organisation Keystone Foundation won one of the Gender Just Climate Solutions awards. Her project "Women Barefoot Ecologists", which also is supported by the Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action (GAGGA), won in the category "Transformational Solutions".

The women barefoot ecologists play a leading role in the conservation of their environment and climate action in their communities in India. They collect and analyse data about the state of the forests, waters and farms, and set up initiatives to improve the situation, like water projects, tree nurseries and community gardens. Their data are also used by the members of the Aadhimalai collective, who gather and process non-timber forest products (NTFPs).

As a long-time partner of Keystone and part of GAGGA, Both ENDS is very proud of the work of Keystone, Bhavya George and the women that participate in the barefoot ecologists project and we congratulate them with their well-deserved award!

The Gender Just Climate Solutions awards are presented each year at the UN's climate conference by the Women and Gender Constituency.
