In search of the money tree: discussion paper on multilateral banks’ climate finance for agroforestry

Natural forests are being cleared for agriculture, whileas trees provide lots of
benefits for agricultural landscapes, not just ecologically but also economically.
Economy and sustainability are not on opposite sides of the table. But one question
is more important than ever: how to finance the necessary change in the most
effective way?

This paper takes a look at the significant role of Multilateral Development Banks
(MDBs) in climate finance, and their rather limited portfolio of forestry, notably of
agroforestry.
