UNCCD COP14: From global frameworks to local actions

At the UNCCD COP14 in India, which is taking place from 2-13 September 2019, Both ENDS is co-organising a number of side events.

One of them is:

FROM GLOBAL FRAMEWORKS TO LOCAL ACTIONS

The change that (upcoming) global reports can bring to policies and action on sustainable land management.

Organised by Drynet and Both ENDS

We see global cornerstone documents relevant to communities living on land are (being) published: land degradation (2018 IPBES Assessment report on Land Degradation and Restoration) on biodiversity (2019 IPBES Global Assessment on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services) and on climate change (2019 IPCC Special report on Climate change and land) and other important reports like Escazu Agreement and the post 2020 global biodiversity framework).

In this session we would like to explore in what ways the policy options are supporting community activities in dryland areas and areas that are affected by desertification, land degradation and droughts.
