Een coalitie van 13 Nederlandse organisaties roept Nederlandse investeerders, zoals banken, pensioenfondsen en verzekeraars, op uit TotalEnergies te stappen vanwege het EACOP project in Oeganda en Tanzania. Deze nieuwe pijpleiding leidt tot mensenrechtenschendingen, armoede voor omwonenden, milieuvervuiling en klimaatverandering en TotalEnergies maakt voor dit project bovendien gebruik van sluiproutes om belasting te ontwijken.
De brief is onder andere gestuurd naar de banken ABN AMRO, ING en Van Lanschot Kempen, pensioenfondsen ABP, BPL, PFZW, PMT en PNO media en verzekeraars Aegon, Allianz en Nationale Nederlanden. De Nederlandse investeerders hebben bij elkaar aandelen en obligaties voor een totale waarde van meer dan 2,1 miljard euro.
Het Mandalika International Street Circuit is een straatcircuit in de badplaats Mandalika in Centraal Lombok in de provincie West Nusa Tenggara. Globally, the area that is suffering desertification and land degradation is ever expanding. Unsustainable and often large-scale agricultural practices, including the copious use of pesticides and fertilizers, are a major driver of land degradation, aprocess that is further exacerbated by climate change, causing more erratic rainfall patterns, longer periods of drought and unpredictable growing seasons. This is very problematic not only for the hundreds of millions of people who directly depend on land and water for their livelihoods, but also for life on earth as a whole. It is clear that this process must be stopped and reversed, better sooner than later. But how to go about it?
