Both ENDS’ partner LEDARS wins award at World Water Forum!

Our partner Local Environment Development and Agricultural Research Society (LEDARS) from Bangladesh has won third prize in the Water Showcase competition at the World Water Forum. We congratulate them with this magnificent result! Besides receiving a considerable sum of money, the award is an important recognition for LEDARS’ innovative approach. The seventh edition of the World Water Forum takes place in Daegu, South Korea.

What is the project about?

The Water Showcase is a special competition for innovative solutions in the water sector. LEDARS’ case was selected from 115 interventions from around the world. LEDARS received the award for the project Water resource optimization for a brighter future: A case of climate change adaptation of Southwest Bangladesh. This project is aimed at helping local communities to adapt agriculture to climate change. In addition, the project contributes to improving local access to clean drinking water. An important aspect of the project is the use of modern technologies, such as sand filters and rain water harvesting.

What does LEDARS do?

LEDARS contributes to sustainable development in the vulnerable southwestern coastal region of Bangladesh. The organization works with local communities on improving drinking water facilities and adapting agricultural practices to salt water conditions.

What is the role of Both ENDS?

Both ENDS works with LEDARS on promoting sustainable land and water management in Bangladesh. Among other things, we support LEDARS in finding donor organizations for their projects and collaborate on the creation of a national Non-Timber Forest Products Network.
