Africa Coordinator (32 hours per week)

For the cooperation with our partners and for the support with its activities in Africa, Both ENDS is looking for an Africa Coordinator.

Together with environmental justice, women's rights and climate justice groups worldwide, Both ENDS works towards a sustainable, fair and inclusive world. We facilitate policy discussions between policy-makers and civil society organisations that face the consequences of these policies. This results in critical viewpoints on prevailing forms of environmental management and leads to sustainable and innovative practices and policies.

The relationship with our partners is based on equality and is characterised by the exchange of information, fundraising, joint research, advocacy, and mutual capacity building.

The activities in your role as Africa Coordinator consist of building and maintaining relationships with existing and new partner organisations in different African countries and supporting their projects. These are related to sustainable land use, agroecology, inclusive water governance, impact of mining and trade and investments in the partner regions. • Initiating and facilitating discussions, workshops and meetings together with partners based on their set priorities.
  • Researching what is necessary to expand the ideas of partners and our work with regard to systems change.

Your profile

  • Strong partner-minded focus: being able to grasp the perspectives of partners, understanding of the diverse socio-political contexts in which they operate and able to link this to policy makers and the work of colleagues.
  • Highly developed people and communication skills: diplomatic, empathetic, birds-eye view, good listener, able to create space for others.
