Interim FGG Coordinator (Maternity cover, 32 hours)


The Fair, Green and Global (FGG) Alliance is an initiative of ActionAid, Both ENDS, Clean Clothes Campaign, Milieudefensie/Friends of the Earth International, SOMO and TNI. Both ENDS is the lead applicant of the Alliance. The six member FGG Alliance is governed by a Steering Committee (SC) consisting of the directors of the member organisations. A Programme Committee (PC) is responsible for strategic steering of programme on a more day to day basis. The coordination team is responsible for reporting to the donor (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and coordinating between the different bodies in the Alliance. For the coordination of the FGG programme we are looking for an:

 

Interim FGG Coordinator (Maternity cover, 32 hours)

 

The FGG Alliance aims for socially just, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable societies by enhancing the capacity of civil society organisations to address governance gaps in corporate conduct, trade and investment, and financial systems. We are currently half-way a 5-year programme in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which started in January 2016.

 

Job Responsibilities
The coordination team consists of two programme coordinators, a part-time financial controller, and a volunteer. The programme coordinators are responsible for:

  • Monitoring that the programme is on track in delivering Alliance-level results, and assuring timely warning to SC if progress is insufficient;
  • Regularly reporting progress to the SC and preparing SC meetings with the chair;
  • Cooperating with the Programme Committee (PC) and other staff members for finance and Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL), as well as the coordination of several intra-alliance working groups;
  • Developing, improving and coordinating the planning and control cycle, incl. IATI compliance, and integrating plans, planning and reports in a way that facilitates and generates synergy between Alliance members. Notably, this PMEL-related work will in the first half of 2018 include the coordination of an externally commissioned Mid-Term Evaluation, and the coordination and writing of the Alliance's Annual Report;
  • Reporting to and coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including embassies;
  • Preparing and organising the FGG annual meeting (to be held in June) and other ad hoc Alliance events;
  • Externally representing the FGG Alliance in relevant fora;
  • Coordinating knowledge development and partner engagement of the FGG Alliance;
  • Developing and implementing an (internal and external) communication strategy;
  • Coordinating joint fundraising.

The exact division of labour between the two programme coordinators will depend on the experience and competencies of the interim programme coordinator.

 

Job requirements

  • Affinity with the vision and objectives of the FGG Alliance;
  • Senior experience with result-oriented management of complex multiple actor programmes;
  • Excellent strategic thinking and planning skills with experience in applying this in a complex and shifting development context;
  • Good understanding of and experience with implementing PMEL systems (experience with coordinating an externally commissioned evaluation will be an added value);
  • Experience in working with (campaigning) organisations;
  • Affinity with and understanding of the thematic focus of the Alliance (corporate conduct; trade & investment; tax and financial systems);
  • Excellent communication and teambuilding skills;
  • Ability to work and think creatively, independently, pro-actively;
  • Quick to learn and good at navigating in complex situations;
  • Excellent language (including writing) skills in both Dutch and English;
  • Knowledge of gender-issues, and communication will be an added value;
  • Preferably experience in working with or within a Dutch ministry.

 

Terms and conditions

  • The position is for 32 hours/week and based in Amsterdam, the contract will be with Both ENDS;
  • A project contract for December 2017 (or January 2018) – June (or July) 2018, with possible extension.
