WORKS WITH BOTH ENDS ON
KRAPAVIS and Both ENDS collaborate on the regeneration of bio-diversity and on strengthening the livelihood of vulnerable social groups by supporting the development and marketing of Non Timber Forest Products (NTFPs).
ADDED VALUE OF PARTNERSHIP
"With inspiration from Both ENDS, we were able to get orans (community conserved areas i.e. community forest) recognised in Rajasthan State Forest Policy 2010. It is the first Forest Policy for Rajasthan ever that acknowledges ground realities and importance of orans, for which KRAPAVIS has been advocating for the last two decades"
KRAPAVIS is a voluntary organisation which, since 1992, has been working to revive orans, both physically and conceptually, in the arid desert and semi-arid Aravali hills of Rajasthan. KRAPAVIS works on three levels simultaneously:
1. at the community level - to engage the people's interest in reviving the orans and re-establish their inclusive, livelihood-promoting character;
2. at the society level - to bring the issue into the national discourse around socio-ecological and livelihood issues; and
3.on the political level - to advocate for policy change and legislation that recognises the community's right to control and manage orans.
Numerous approaches have been adopted, including cataloging, reviving, campaigning and training on orans. Through water conservation techniques and tree and grass planting, KRAPAVIS has restored about 100 orans, securing livelihoods of the pastoralist communities who depend upon them.
