WORKS WITH BOTH ENDS ON
Brotee and Both ENDS share a common goal in mainstreaming a negotiated approach in water resources management and providing safe water to communities by implementing a rural piped water supply programme.
ADDED VALUE OF PARTNERSHIP
The emerging partnership with Both ENDS will strengthen our emphasis on developing surface water use, given the widespread arsenic contamination and depletion of ground water in Bangladesh due to overextraction. Brotee alongside Both ENDS sees safe water access as a human rights issue and a balance between surface and ground water use is essential to ensure that every Bangladeshi village has access to safe water.
The donor driven overdependence on ground water needs to be challenged locally and globally for it is unsustainable. A robust approach to surface water use is essential. Brotee's organic water treatment plant, which provides safe, treated river water to three villages in North Bengal, has been operational for 4 years now and is proof of the efficacy of surface water use in drought prone, arsenic afflicted areas. This successful prototype can be replicated across Bangladesh and elsewhere. We look forward to further strategic support and cooperation on this issue and hope to extend our collaborative work in the field of human rights.
